Gossip Flower Earrings
At its core, gossip is a form of communication, a means through which narratives are shared, identities are constructed, and social bonds are forged. Gossip has become a vehicle for resistance, a space where women could speak without the influence of men. It serves as a means of reclaiming agency over one's own narrative
I want to explore the stigmatization of gossiping and create a piece that shows the closeness and companionship that was ‘gossip’ before the threatened patriarchy tarnished the word and turned the meaning into a toxic form of backstabbing ‘idle talk’. Replicating the form of the tin can and string telephones, these earrings transform and connect to whisper secrets & stories.
