Gossip Flower Earrings
At its core, gossip is a form of communication, a means through which narratives are shared, identities are constructed, and social bonds are forged. Gossip has become a vehicle for resistance, a space where women could speak without the influence of men. It serves as a means of reclaiming agency over one's own narrative
I explored the stigmatization of gossiping and created a piece that shows the closeness and companionship that was ‘gossip’ before the threatened patriarchy tarnished the word and turned the meaning into a toxic form of backstabbing ‘idle talk’. Replicating the dimensional form of bell flowers and the function of the tin can and string telephones, these earrings transform and connect to whisper secrets & stories.
